Twenty three intrepid Coombe Dean sailors set sail for Plymouth Sound last Saturday on three Island Trust’s sail training vessels – Tectona, Pegasus and Moosk.
After safety briefings and preparing the three ships, we let slip our shore lines and motored into the Catte Water to raise our sails. Once set, we sailed past Fisherman’s Point, past Mountbatten Breakwater and into the busy traffic of Plymouth Sound beyond.
After a full day of tacking around the Sound, and a lunch onboard in Cawsands, we headed back with heads full of new knowledge, and excitement for the actual full week’s adventure on the high seas in July.
Well done all of you. You all acted with respect and good humour towards all staff and your fellow sailors.
