Over the past year, a number of our Year 12 and 13 BTEC PE students have been giving up their free time on a regular basis to plan, organise and lead sporting activities both in and out of school.
Scout W, Summer R and Billy D have been acting as assistants in the PE department and Adam W, Billy D, Ross E and Tom G have returned to their old primary schools to run extra curricular clubs.
Below are comments made by 3 of the primary schools:
“Ross is an enthusiastic and organised leader of the C4L club at Hyde Park. He is encouraging and supportive of the children and always plans engaging and fun sessions! Without Ross’s help and the support from Coombe Dean this year, the C4L club would not able to take place. We are incredibly grateful!”
“Both have been brilliant with the organisation, commitment, and motivating our pupils, who are aged 4 – 9 years. The children have been excited to take part in the activities and looked forward to it each week. What has been great to see is the leaders’ confidence grow, in delivery and how they engage with much younger children; all at an appropriate professional level. Billy especially was extra special.
This was an amazing opportunity for us at Wembury Primary and Coombe Dean students and hopefully others will follow in their footsteps. Thank you.”
“Adam has been running Change for Life Club at Elburton School for 2 terms. He is enthusiastic and motivates the children well. Adam has recognised when the club has needed development and has now taken on 15 Year 2 pupils who are thoroughly enjoying the club. “
If you are about to enter the Sixth Form or are in Year 12, interested in being involved in sports leadership and would like the opportunity to help out with sports activities in Primary schools from September, please see Mrs Walpole in the PE Department.
Well done and a big thank you to those involved.
