Peer Listening

Peer listening is when an older student works with, and supports, a younger student through any difficulties from friendships to academic problems.

Our Peer Listeners
Our year 10 / 11 students are fully trained and committed to delivering a quality Mentoring programme. They also have the opportunity to work towards their Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.

How it Works

Peer Listening service  a ‘drop in’ listening service, every lunchtime in the Inclusion block. A Peer Listener will be available to listen to and respond to any student to discuss concerns, worries or problems.

All of these interventions aim to provide the Coombe Dean community, where students feel it is safe to talk and where they will be listened to – thus building on the recognition that the mental health needs of children and young people are intrinsic to achieving their personal, social and academic potential.
