When Learning Comes Alive

It was wonderful to see the smiles and the energy of our current students and potential future students at our building relationships days last week.

Year 5 pupils from local primary schools took part in exciting learning activities, including orienteering, life skills, library challenges and pizza making.

Students from Coombe Dean took on the roles of teachers and leaders.

They did an amazing job; they instructed, explained, reflected and encouraged.  They helped our young visitors feel safe, gain confidence and expand their horizons.  Most importantly, they were building positive relationships with our future students, helping them to make connections with the Coombe Dean community.

Millie, one of our student Sports Leaders, commented on the experience:

‘Sharing your learning with other people makes you run it back through your brain; it confirms that you have listened and understood and helps you to remember.  It makes you feel happy to be sharing knowledge with someone else.’

Clearly, it was a day when the power of positive relationships made learning come alive!
